How Does Ciprofloxacin Tablet Work?

Traveller's diarrhoea is a type of bacterial infection that is acquired by ingesting contaminated food or water. Although it is not a life-threatening infection, a traveller's diarrhoea can be a real pain especially if one acquires it while in a location that is far from a medical facility. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic medication that is classified under fluoroquinolones, a group of medications that attack the dangerous bacteria present in the body, inhibits their growth and ultimately kill them off.

 

What Does Ciprofloxacin Treat?

Ciprofloxacin is mainly used to treat traveller's diarrhea, but it can also be used to treat:

  • Urinary infections
  • Bone infections
  • Prostatitis
  • Digestive tract infections

Directions

  • Do not crush or chew the tablets, instead, swallow them with plenty of water.
  • Avoid dairy products such as cheese, yoghurt or milk because they can affect interfere with the chemical components in the medication.
